PETA ARTS Zone Project
The Advocate Right to Safety Zone for Children Project (ARTSZone Project) is a creative campaign that promotes children’s rights to safety and protection from any form of violence and abuse. It specifically promotes positive discipline as an alternative to corporal punishment. It aspires to ensure a child’s positive growth and active participation towards reaching his/her full potential.
Since its launch in 2009, the project has forged partnerships with schools, barangays, LGUs, NGOs, church-based ministries, and community organizations. Its various programs and activities have been implemented in the most populated cities of Metro Manila, namely Caloocan, Makati, Manila, Pasig, and Quezon City; as well as in Cainta, Las Piñas, Valenzuela, Ozamis, Albay, and Dumaguete.
In 2020, students from partners schools and communities were trained and localized the campaign within their schools and communities. Soon after, they organized themselves as Lunsad Kabataan – the Youth Artvocates arm of PETA ARTSZone. With these dynamic and creative young individuals, PETA ARTSzone continues to advocate for policies that will support and protect children in all spaces while safeguarding their rights and best interests.
The program is led by PETA Senior Artist-Teacher She Maala, who formerly served as the program director of the PETA Women’s Theater Program (WTP). For more information about the ARTS Zone Project and its activities, like and follow our social media pages:
