The School of People's Theather (SPT)

The School of People’s Theater (SPT) is the training arm of PETA that initiates and institutionalizes PETA’s efforts in developing people’s theater curricula to support cultural, educational, and development initiatives across multiple sectors. Through the SPT, PETA fulfills its mission of making theater accessible and harnessing creativity to mine the gold in every individual.

The SPT maintains a pool of expert educators who are experienced arts practitioners and artist-teachers. They leverage this experience to inspire creativity in their educational practice and in their respective communities. The Integrated Theater Arts approach is PETA’s unique creative pedagogy based on the philosophy of theater as a space for ideas, the arts as a medium for unleashing creativity, and as a potent vehicle in strengthening one’s cultural identity. Through the years, PETA continues to create curricula that integrate creative drama, creative writing, creative movement, creative sound and music, the visual arts, and group dynamics interwoven with issues of contemporary life.

Utilizing its extensive networks, the SPT conducts year-round workshops at the PETA Theater Center, specialized workshops for its different programs, and community workshops both locally and internationally.
